Zion Zzzs, what's that?! Well, Ron and I did the obligatory National Park trip in Zion yesterday. The adventure part was all the AHH-mazing natural scenery! Here is a photo of the river with distant mountains:

And here is the same spot but I took the shot while sitting on the large rock looking the other direction at the reflective water surface, with yet another geological wonder in the background:

The Zzzs were people. Sleepwalking people. What is wrong with them? Why do they talk so much while in nature? And why do they talk about everything EXCEPT what they are seeing?! Also, why don't parents use this amazing opportunity to teach their children about appreciating Mother Earth? Ron and I were shocked (not really) at the vapidness of most of the sight-seers. Yes, of course, there were folks taking pictures and marveling at the beauty all around them, but not very many. We were genuinely hoping for some peace and quiet, or at least a lot of moments, but these were rare while in the park.

That is, until we got out of "shuttle mode" and came back to the area around our campground. We took Spicy out on Kolob Terrace Road, which eventually leads to the reservoir and a supposedly awesome hiking experience called the Subway, but we didn't have that much time. So we parked and hiked to Lamb's Knoll Climbing Site. We got peace and quiet, and this:

And we got THIS:

Then we drove for a mile or so and pulled over on the other side of the road. We trekked down a crunchy path (ask me about this), and we got THIS:

So. Much. Peace. Quiet. And. Beauty.

My advice for today (and every day, for a little while): Get out and reconnect with Mother Earth. You will forget about the "herd" mentality. And why do "they" call us a "herd" anyway? We're human men and women and children, not cattle or sheep. Rekindle your humanity in Nature, and "teach your children well," as Crosby, Stills & Nash sang so beautifully!

I will post more photos and fun from the road when time permits! Sending you all love.
