We Made It to Michigan!

It was another long day of driving, even though it was only a little over 200 miles. I say it was long because the roads were SO (bleep bleep bleeping bleep) BAD! Out of the 3,507 miles we have driven so far, today's road rating gets a "Minus 1" for duration and severity of bumpiness coupled with stupidity of conditions and rudeness of many drivers.
Wow, I sound so negative, but really, I am happy to be here in Michigan, finally! What an adventure is has been so far, and we're only a little more than half-way through the road trip. Ron took a selfie of us at a rest area today:

We stopped here to eat lunch in the trailer and let Nilla out of her carrier for 30 minutes or so. The driver of the big rig next to us saw Nilla sitting pretty in the screened-in open window as he walked by, and he chatted with her for a moment. She was very intrigued, and I think she felt special because she hardly complained the rest of the way to our destination😻 (not that she whines a lot, she is a very good girl).
We arrived a bit early to our campground, and lest you think our fancy photos and stories render us exempt from the rigors of life, let it be known that, once again, we had to dump our trailer waste (that is, OUR waste, ahem) . . . this time before we even made it to our site💩. These are moments in RV life when you must steel yourself against not only the stench but the edgy attitudes potentially arising from the nastiness of the job, my friends!
With the worst of the stay pretty much over and done (we hope, haha), we quickly settled in to our site. Easy pull-through site and not too much leveling required. Before too long, we headed out to the local market for more food and drinks. My goodness, our refrigerator, freezer, pantry, and every available cooler bag is filled with nutrition and hydration options, and yet, we must have MORE! Well, when you literally LIVE on the road in a truck and Micro Minnie Winnebago, you find out how to moderate between minimalism and the convenience of home life. It is not easy! See what I mean?!

Back at the campsite, we stored the goods in whatever bags, boxes, nooks, and crannies we had left, and began prepping dinner: A big green salad, mushroom appetizers, skewered onions, a foil pack of baby potatoes, and garlic & fennel sausages. Enough for dinner and a big lunch salad tomorrow. I opened a bottle of rosé bubbles to enjoy while chopping (no, I didn't drink the whole bottle, only about a glass-and-a-half!).
Just before the food festivities were going to the grilling stage, a cloudburst occurred and drops of rain fell. Big drops, but not so many. After a few minutes, the intensity and volume increased, and this is what we experienced for maybe 20-30 minutes (see video on YouTube):
And just as quickly as the torrent came, it went. The sky cleared. We mopped up and carried on without another beat. Dinner was delicious.
Are you wondering about the rainbow? There was none that we could see. Perhaps we were INSIDE the rainbow!
Also — and sorry no footage to back this up — the Fairy Forest exists here, too, because we saw more FIREFLIES! Lots of them, and they were flying pretty high. Wheeeeeeeee!
Let's all fly high and take the steps to achieve our dreams, too, and I'll see you in the next post. Much much love to you all!
