We drove for 331 miles yesterday, out of Iowa and into western Michigan. I'll be honest: It was a rough haul. The I-80 and I-94 were just plain crappy to drive on. Along those hundreds of miles, there was road construction equipment, road diversions that were very difficult to follow, and a total of four workers actually present.

But we made it to our Harvest Host, the Haymarket Brewery & Taproom in Bridgman, Michigan. We picked a sweet spot in the spacious mini-forest and I captured this photo as we walked to the brewery to have pizza and salad:

When we arrived at the hostess desk, we found out that they decided to only serve burgers and chips that night, so there were no vegan options for us to purchase and eat. Apparently the business is severely understaffed, which would precipitate the necessity to limit food options. Ah well, we had just spend a small fortune at Trader Joe's in Coralville, Iowa before we left the state, so we returned to our campsite and made delicious pita pizza on the propane grill. Dinner at 8, not too late!

After dinner and dishes, we sat outside for a few minutes at dusk and watched the fireflies flitting around and making more magic in our very own Fairy Forest. It got chilly and damp, so we settled in for the evening with plans to sleep in a bit and have a leisurely breakfast and coffee.

Wishing you all magical moments in your version of the Fairy Forest, and see you in the next post!
