We left Tehachapi this morning at 11:35. We were treated to nature sounds, like song birds, cawing crows, and the wind slowly increasing and singing through the trees. We also got to see things of man, like the plane towing gliders, over and over.

Then we set off for our next location: Lake Mead, Nevada. It was hot. My mind was on Nilla, who hadn't drank a sip of water or ate a bite of food since Wednesday evening. About halfway through our driving experience — which overall was excellent — I mentioned to Ron that I was concerned about our fluffy princess. He said that we would rearrange the truck so I could sit in the "crew cab" with her. It was an excellent idea, like most of Ron's ideas. It did make my job as Head Navigator more difficult, but I was next to my baby girl, meow indeed.

I decided to bypass the whole Las Vegas loop, and it lead to us getting turned around, around, around a few times until we eventually — perhaps 25 minutes later than planned — arrived safely and securely at our campsite.

This is a view of Lake Mead from our campsite at around 6:00PM:

Did I mention that it was 111 degrees Fahrenheit when we arrived?

Ron got the electric hook-up at our site going right away so we could get our princess into her cabin! I set up her indoor posh palace and prepped for dinner, which comprised the lunch salad Ron hadn't consumed plus some healthy snacks . . . and lots of water! I wanted to enjoy a glass of bubbles, but the fizz had left the bottle while in transit. I wasn't surprised, as I pretty much knew this was going to happen . . . but a bit bummed still!

(Note to self: Find high quality rosé bubbles in 375ml bottles for travel! If these do not exist yet, find a winemaker to make and widely distribute them!)🥂

By this time, the sun was setting. Ron watched some drama unfold between the camp host and a new neighbor with their badly parked RV motor coach. We walked to the restrooms just to see the sights. A lady was walking her blue-eyed Husky dog and he demanded that we become instant friends.

I took a post-sunset photo of the lake:

And then we dealt with technology stuff (Wi-Fi, temperature control, and entertainment system). Nilla finally sipped some water and noshed on some crunchies, and not so secretly, this was a milestone in the trip for me!

MORNING UPDATE:

It's 90 degrees outside at 8:00AM, but it's a beautiful day to move on to our next destination!
