This was Ron's and my favorite campground so far on the road trip. We had a long drive to Hendersonville, TN, and got turned around after missing the unmarked entrance, but the little frustration went away as soon as we backed into our lakeside site and viewed the surrounding area. I stood in front of our trailer and snapped this photo:

The campground is operated by the Army Corps of Engineers. It's practically spotless, and every one of the campsites features a concrete pad for the rig next to one of these concrete picnic areas. We didn't use ours for food prep or dining (only to hang some wet clothes on the safety rails), but it was nice to have such a spacious area.

The lake, called Old Hickory Lake, is part of the long, winding Cumberland River. People fish and boat on the lake. It was pretty quiet though, which was nice. Actually, mostly all we could hear was the sounds of insects! We walked to the boat launch area after dinner and this is what we saw:

But my favorite part of the Old Hickory Lake Cages Bend campsite was this magical, mystical lighting effect happening in the trees on the afternoon of our arrival. I honestly don't know how such light reflections can occur on the tops of leaves and branches!

So many reasons why the heat and humidity could not undo the wonder of Cages Bend on Old Hickory Lake!

Wishing you all magical wonders in your lives today and every day! See you in the next post!💖
